"THANK & GROW RICH" - Book review

Updated: Mar 13

THANK & GROW RICH is the most recent book I've read, though before I start I must make you aware of something that I hadn't realised. Pam Grout, the wonderful author, actually has two books that she recommends reading prior to THANK & GROW RICH. These are E-Squared and E-Cubed. I am reading these now and will review them too. However you can absolutely still gain from reading THANK & GROW RICH alone, it is a wonderful book!

If you are familiar to 'self help books' you have probably heard of Think & Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill, these books are not to be confused. Whilst of a similar kind of nature, THANK & GROW RICH is a far more beginner friendly, easy to absorb, enjoyable book. It's written in a way that is familiar to all. It isn't fancy and full of hard to understand words, its very relaxed and straight to the point, like an aunt telling you the ways of life. Yes THANK & GROW RICH is written by our new aunt Pam, thank you Pam.

The books general goal is to raise your frequency to the gratitude wave and boy is it a beautiful place to be. It's a 30 day experiment, so doesn't require much commitment and each "chapter" (I say in quotation marks, because they're actually called 'Party Games' in the book) are super short and easy to follow, taking no more than 10 minutes a day - doable.

To give you an idea of what to expect in the book, the first section doesn't require you to 'do' anything. It is short, easy to read chapters of uplifting, vibe raising information and stories. The first 'party game' (I don't actually resonate with this term, it felt off to me although I do understand why it was used - it's meant to keep the general vibe of the book light and not work like) is called AA 2.0 and the aim of the 'game' is to set your vibe for the day by declaring that "something amazingly awesome (AA - from the title AA 2.0) is going to happen to me today" as soon as you wake up. These first few minutes of your day as you're still in the sleepy theta brain wave state are so important and should be utilised wisely. Pam has given a great tool that is incredibly wise and simple, taking just a few seconds too. There is a step 2 to the first game which is looking for the positives in each day as opposed to only seeing the negatives it says to pretend to be a private investigator searching for the beauty in the world - I think we could all do with doing this a lot more!

Throughout the book there are lots of positive quotes too and I find it interesting to see where the quotes have come from, one was from another author who's book I have read and loved and will review - Untamed by Glennon Doyle.

I did manage to get on the gratitude wave and on one particular day boy did it speak volumes, I was higher than any junkie you've ever met - a natural high of course (if you've ever had the privilege of comparing a natural high to a synthetic high then you will know the feeling, it is quite literally the best feeling EVER and can not be duplicated through drugs) I wanted - and did - sing, dance and cartwheel everywhere, I made sale after sale, even things I weren't advertising which was so out of the blue and managed to call in a few hundred pound, which for a person who is always sitting with her last £20 thinking FFS felt like I had just made my first million. I was a joy to be around, I was light in walking form, everyone could see it, feel it and I was in love with absolutely everything. Normally I have quite a judgmental mind much to my own dislike, especially when it comes to peoples appearances, that first negative opinion always hits me hard and I have to talk to myself and convince myself to stop judging - but on this day that was eradicated! ERADICATED! There was no judgement just pure love for absolutely everyone and everything. I have honestly never felt anything like it before and I can only hope I get to feel it again and more frequently too. Unfortunately this was a 24hr buzz and I wasn't able to maintain it, but I am doing everything in my power to get back there and I can only wish that through reading thing book you will gain a similar experience, perhaps I need to read it again!

I also managed to pick up a beautiful new habit from this book which is writing 3 blessings that have happened each day, somedays it feels like I could write 100 and others I do struggle to find all 3, but simply waking up, being able to move, and seeing my son smile are the 3 things I should be most grateful for, but the catch is you can't write the same thing twice so it really gets you thinking! ;) In the book I think it asks you to write 3 blessings that ARE going to happen to you that day, not things that have already happened but this was unclear to me, you'll have to call your own judgement on that one!

All in all I really loved this book (THANK & GROW RICH) and I can't speak highly enough for how easy it was to read and commit to each day, I looked forward to waking up and reading first thing and I do actually quite frankly miss it!

Love, light and honesty, ALWAYS.

Kirsty xx
